New Electric SUV from Subaru
Subaru has introduced its first three-row electric off-roader named the Getaway. This model, developed jointly with Toyota, is built on the Highlander EV platform and is the most powerful production Subaru in history.
Key features of the new vehicle include:
Power and Performance
According to the manufacturer, the 420 horsepower is enough for this family vehicle to outpace many sports sedans while carrying six or seven passengers and their luggage. This figure also exceeds the power of the Toyota Highlander EV, which is 388 horsepower.
Design and Space
In terms of design, clear connections to the Toyota Highlander EV, whose debut is also planned for this year, are evident. The Subaru Getaway offers 45.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats, which is more than the Kia EV9. Behind the third row, there is 15.9 cubic feet of space.
Depending on the trim, the second row can have captain’s chairs or a bench seat. The manufacturer claims that all three rows have sufficient space for adult passengers up to six feet tall.
This model marks a serious step for Subaru into the world of electric vehicles after previous attempts, which were often viewed as a formality. The Getaway, along with the recently introduced Trailseeker and Uncharted models, demonstrates the brand’s intent to compete with market leaders.
Full information on pricing and availability is expected closer to the start of sales, which are scheduled to begin later this year. The development of Subaru’s electric portfolio in partnership with Toyota allows the brand to enter new segments for itself more quickly, using proven technological solutions. The success of the Getaway could significantly change the perception of the brand in a market increasingly oriented towards electric propulsion.
