New Radical Porsche GT3 Package from Manthey May Break Nürburgring Records Again

Extensive modifications to the next-generation 911 GT3 were primarily aimed at reducing emissions and some minor stylistic improvements. At the same time, Manthey Racing is working on a new set of updates to further enhance the performance of this specialized track-focused 911 model. Manthey was noted during tests at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with their latest modifications. New changes to the front bumper from Porsche require corresponding adjustments in Manthey. This prototype features a pair of small aerodynamic canards and a front splitter that appears to be slightly larger than before.

Additionally, the 911 is fitted with a new set of carbon fiber rims on the rear wheels. This tester also has camouflage on the rear wing, and the end plates appear to be slightly larger than on a standard GT3. It also seems that a new carbon fiber diffuser is installed. While the changes in appearance are apparent, most of the improvements from Manthey are under the hood. For example, the GT3 is equipped with special adaptive throttle valves on three and four intakes, improved brakes, new composite underbody aerodynamics, illuminated thresholds, as well as steel brake lines.

These enhancements allowed for an impressive 4.19 seconds off the lap time at the Nürburgring, bringing it down to 6:55.737. Manthey does not plan to alter the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated inline engine and does not need to. The factory engine delivers 502 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque, more than enough for a sports car of this class. With the available six-speed manual, the car only needs 3.7 seconds to accelerate to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h), and only 3.2 seconds to reach this speed with the PDK automatic transmission.
