New Coronavirus Strain Will Affect the Auto Business and Fuel Prices

Prices for gasoline and diesel due to the new COVID-19 strain discovered in Britain may change significantly. Moreover, in just one day, December 21, oil prices fell by almost 3%. This is due to the fact that the new coronavirus strain has raised concerns about slowing the recovery in fuel demand due to tighter travel restrictions in Europe.

However, while the possible decrease in gasoline and diesel prices may be considered a positive moment by ordinary motorists (although in global terms and for the world economy this is hardly positive), the closure of Britain may lead to an increase in the cost of car parts and, possibly, some cars. By the way, the new COVID strain has been found in the Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, and even Ukraine.

For the auto business, which has already suffered from the coronavirus and the pandemic, this could be a new blow. The fact is, England has not only Land Rover, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Bentley, Jaguar, Lotus, and Mini but also Nissan, Toyota, and other foreign brand factories. Considering the total closure of the country, all this can lead to disruptions in the production of cars and parts, which in turn can affect their cost, and not in a downward direction.

It should be recalled that today the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that a new strain of coronavirus was discovered in the country, which may be 70% more contagious. Due to the spread of the new strain, the EU countries, South Africa (and not only) began to cancel not only air traffic with the United Kingdom but also cargo, trains, and buses.

The new coronavirus mutation has been named VUI-202012/01 (Variant under Investigation). It has 17 stable (consistently transmitted from one carrier to another) changes. Scientists have not previously encountered so many mutations at once. It is believed that they appeared during the prolonged illness of one patient in Britain, which allowed SARS-CoV-2 to evolve in the body for a long time. Do you know which cars are better suited to survive coronavirus and quarantine?

Also, remember that COVID made previously unpopular gadgets scarce in Ukraine.
