We have already written about the bill on non-customs-cleared cars by Yuzhanina. But a new bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, and if approved, the legalization of cars with Euro plates will cost only a few hundred euros.
The new bill on non-customs-cleared cars No. 8487-1 proposes to reduce rates by almost 10 times. Depending on the year of manufacture, engine capacity, and fuel type, customs clearance will cost up to 500 euros, with a minimum of 63 euros.
In addition to reducing rates on used cars, the bill’s authors propose to halve the rates for customs clearance of cars without mileage. Meanwhile, buyers of electric vehicles are proposed to be exempted from paying excise duties and taxes until 2020.
What rates does the new bill on vehicle customs clearance propose:
It’s also interesting to know that the authors have also taken care of those who already have cars with foreign registration. They propose to officially register them in Ukraine at reduced excise duty rates.
Moreover, the benefits will also apply to those who in recent years could not take advantage of temporary allowances due to the considerable age of the imported car or its non-compliance with modern emission standards. Specifically, the authors propose to give all owners of Euro-3 class cars a year from the date the law comes into force to complete all paperwork, writes UBR.
Will such a law be passed? We believe that in this form, it will never be voted on.
