Infiniti QX70 Review: Why It’s Loved and Why It’s Bought

Appearance is one of the key reasons why the QX70 is chosen. Stylish and fashionable, massive and sporty. But inside this crossover, everything is different. The interior of the Infiniti QX70 is not particularly spacious. However, in terms of design and visual perception, the interior compares to a glamorous and luxurious room in a five-star hotel.

2018 Infiniti QX70

In Ukraine, the QX70, formerly known as the FX, is available with three engines. The petrol with a volume of 3.7 L and 5.0 L develop 333 hp and 400 hp, respectively. If Infiniti used to offer only petrol engines, today there is also a turbodiesel. With a volume of 3.0 L, the engine develops 238 hp and provides acceleration of 8.3 s to 100 km/h. For the 3-liter petrol unit, this figure is 6.8 s.

The quality of trim and level of comfort are in line with the premium class. In the Infiniti QX70 – it’s a kingdom of leather and noble materials. In terms of driving qualities, the QX70 resembles a large, well-fed sports car. Driving it is pure pleasure, but the suspension is not particularly soft. It is tightly assembled and somewhat stiff at times.

Primarily because of the large radius wheels.

Like all Infiniti models, this crossover meets the strictest safety standards. In this case, the concept of “basic configuration” is practically absent. By default, the Infiniti QX70 is equipped with dozens of safety systems and numerous airbags. The all-wheel-drive system is also available from the start, making driving on snowy and slippery roads comfortable and safe.

The Infiniti QX70 is created for those who want not only to keep up with the fashion but also to drive with it. But beauty requires sacrifice, so you have to be prepared for a tight interior (especially in the back), a small trunk, and a quite stiff suspension. Among the pluses are not only the appearance and luxurious interior, but also the acceleration dynamics and engine sound. Petrol engines emit an incomparable sporty roar with every press of the accelerator, which is like music to the ears. The diesel does not sound as sweet.

Speaking of petrol engines, the concept of “fuel economy” is simply inappropriate. Even the 3.7-liter engine consumes around 17-18 L in the city and 10 L on the highway. The Infiniti QX70 with a 5-liter engine – 20-22 L in the city and about 12-14 L on the highway. Those willing to sacrifice engine roar and dynamics for economy should definitely consider the diesel version. It is slower but content with 11-12 liters in the city and 8-9 L on the highway.

The car is not particularly demanding on fuel quality. The main thing is to timely change the fuel filter

Verdict

The Infiniti QX70 is a tribute to fashion. But it’s not just a prestigious “accessory on wheels,” but also a driver-focused car.
