The XV model stands out among other Subarus despite its relation to the Impreza. Thanks to the abundance of bright colors, the car appeals to the youth and female audience. Inside, the Subaru XV looks nice, but in the spirit of Subaru – everything is concise and simple. Such austerity is either very appealing or causes confusion.
In Ukraine, only gasoline engines are available for the Subaru XV.
These are proprietary boxer engines with a displacement of 1.6 L and 2.0 L, with power outputs of 114 hp and 150 hp, respectively. Both engines are available with a manual gearbox and a continuously variable transmission. The XV with the base engine cannot be called a fast car – it takes over 13 seconds to reach 100 km/h. The 2.0-liter modification is not particularly dynamic either – 10.5 seconds to a hundred with a manual gearbox (with a CVT – 10.7 seconds). Regardless of the type of transmission, the Subaru XV comes with an all-wheel-drive system.
The introduction of the XV significantly boosted the brand’s sales, especially in Europe. Many liked the format of a spacious hatchback combined with substantial ground clearance and an all-wheel-drive system. The handling of the Subaru XV evokes only positive emotions. Obedient steering, excellent chassis – it all gives a sense of sporty drive every day. Engineers endowed the car with a compact yet comfortable suspension.
Five adults will have no trouble seating inside, and the trunk is also sizeable.
The vehicle’s body includes reinforcement components made of high-strength steel, which significantly increases the rigidity of the structure and ensures the absorption of impact forces in accidents. Subaru XV scores highly across various safety assessment methods. As crash tests have shown, the XV meets the strictest requirements. Subaru engineers also took care of pedestrians.
The front of the XV is designed to minimize injuries in case of an accident.
The main feature of this Subaru is the ground clearance of 220 mm. Suitable clearance for bad roads and long journeys. Thanks to the horizontally-opposed engine, the Subaru XV has almost perfect weight distribution across the axles. As for the all-wheel-drive, the Japanese have been a bit clever here.
It’s not quite correct to call it full and symmetrical. The version with manual transmission has an all-wheel-drive system with a center self-locking differential with a viscous coupling, whereas the CVT version features active torque distribution.
Regarding fuel consumption, the 1.6 and 2.0-liter versions do not differ much from each other. Despite the different displacement and power, the Subaru XV engines consume approximately 10-11 L in the city and 6-7 liters on the highway. If the budget allows – it’s better to choose the more powerful version.
The fuel consumption is almost the same, but the difference in acceleration dynamics is significant.
Subaru XV is a multifunctional hatchback with off-road clearance, all-wheel-drive, and driver-friendly handling. This model will delight fans of bright shades, thanks to its wide range of colors. An excellent car for people leading an active lifestyle. You can view this and other vehicles at the Bogdan Auto Showroom.
