Germany’s Automotive Market: Prices Are Rising, but Dacia Finds Its Buyer
Prices for new cars in Germany have increased significantly in recent years, forcing many buyers to abandon the purchase of new vehicles. However, there is an exception – the Dacia brand, which, despite price hikes, increased sales by 19%.
According to research data, the average price of Dacia cars has risen by 48%, but it remains one of the most affordable on the market. For example, the Sandero model starts from €12,490, which is significantly lower than competitors in the small car segment.
Electric Vehicles and Affordability
One of the reasons for the price increase is the transition to electric vehicles, which, despite a wider selection, remain more expensive than traditional cars. Although wages in Germany have increased by 24% since 2019, this does not compensate for the 40 percent increase in car prices.
As a result, more and more buyers are turning to used cars or loan programs. Manufacturers have to balance between profitability and affordability so as not to lose customers in the long term.
Dacia continues to attract buyers with its simplicity and smart prices, while other brands risk losing part of the market due to overly high prices. This indicates that even in difficult economic conditions, there will be brands that can offer a balance of price and quality.
