Software update will silently change over two million Volvo cars

Volvo updates for 2026

Volvo has introduced updates for its entire 2026 model year lineup. The main changes concern technologies, and some of them will be available to owners of existing models.

The highlight will be the updated Volvo Car UX multimedia system, already installed on the EX30, EX90, and refreshed XC90 models. It will now be standard for all new 2026 Volvos. The system will receive over-the-air updates for approximately 2.5 million cars produced since 2020.

Technical improvements

The infotainment hardware will also be upgraded with Qualcomm chips, making the system faster and more responsive. Additionally, adaptive cruise control will become standard for all models in the US.

Visual changes will include two new colors – Aurora Silver and Forest Lake, as well as a special Black Edition version for the XC40 model with black exterior elements.

These updates confirm Volvo’s commitment to continuously improving technologies, even for already released vehicles. Particularly noteworthy is the decision to make adaptive cruise control standard – a long-awaited step from a premium brand.
