Why You Shouldn’t Hang a Mask on the Car Mirror

A mask on the rearview mirror has become a familiar and often essential attribute of a car’s interior in 2020. Yes, it might be convenient, but hanging it on the mirror is just as bad an idea as wearing a mask on your chin.

But the point is not that a mask on the mirror increases the risk of COVID-19 infection. As studies by Dekra show, the danger lies in the fact that even relatively small objects hung on the mirror significantly impair visibility. In turn, a mask on the mirror in the car restricts visibility, especially when turning right, and distracts the driver’s attention – they get used to something always moving at the edge of their field of vision.

As a result, the movement of another vehicle on the right side of the road might not be noticed, which can become a cause of an accident. Therefore, experts advise placing the mask in the glove compartment or other storage compartments.
