Last week, owners and supporters of used cars from Europe and beyond actively protested against government institutions. The demands are simple – to abolish the excise tax on passenger cars and adopt bill No. 3704. But today the Verkhovna Rada made it clear that there are more serious problems at the moment, and therefore postponed the consideration of the bill.
This is the decision of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
Thus, the Committee decided to create a working group to develop a unified bill on the customs clearance and registration of vehicles with foreign registration. In this regard, social networks have already begun to actively call for indefinite protests by car owners with Euro plates and “those who want to have the opportunity to buy affordable cars.”
“Somehow we need to solve this issue, but we must solve it without harming the state, without harming society. We need to find this golden mean,” – said the head of the committee Danil Hetmantsev at the meeting. The Ministry of Finance believes that the proposed “Auto Euro Force” bill No. 3704 will cost the state about 8 billion hryvnias per year.
Given the current situation, COVID and the economic situation, the adoption of this project may cost too much and become almost a betrayal of those, “who do not have money not only to clear the car, but also do not have money for any car,” – Deputy Minister of Finance Svetlana Vorobey believes.
Conclusion: the so-called Euro plates owners are unlikely to expect positive changes in their favor in the near future. Recall, in October, the Cabinet authorized the police to fine owners of cars with Euro plates on the spot. The fine is 8500 UAH. If the violation is committed by the same driver again within a year, the fine is already 17,000 UAH.
At the same time, the driver is deprived of the right to drive for 1 year and with a paid seizure of the car or without it.
