According to Autohome, the new Toyota Prado will appear in 2022 and will be related to the Camry. No, this is not a joke – the SUV could be built on the TNGA platform. This means that there will be no more frame.
Of course, a monocoque body has its advantages. It is lighter, stiffer, and offers more interior space. Both the Land Rover Defender and Mitsubishi Pajero have already abandoned the frame, although it’s hard to believe in the case of the Prado. It is reported that the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will measure 4830 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1850 mm in height. The interior will feature a virtual dashboard and a large touchscreen, and an expanded list of safety systems is also expected.
A choice will be offered between a 2.5-liter 205-horsepower gasoline engine and the familiar 2.8-liter 177-horsepower turbo diesel. Moreover, instead of a 6-speed automatic transmission, there will now be a CVT.
