Impressive Ford Performance in Q3
Automaker Ford demonstrated significant sales growth in the third quarter, marking the seventh consecutive month with positive dynamics. The company’s success was ensured not only by individual models but also by a whole range of vehicles, including traditional internal combustion engine cars such as Bronco, Explorer, and Expedition, as well as electric vehicles and hybrids that set new records.
Key Sales Figures
Details of Electric Vehicles and Hybrids
Overall, Ford and Lincoln together sold 85,789 electric vehicles, including hybrid and fully electric models. This constitutes 15.7% of the brand’s total sales volume, whereas in the previous quarter this figure was only 13.5%. This growth can be partially explained by buyers’ desire to take advantage of tax incentives that ended on September 30. However, Ford and GM have likely found a way to extend these benefits.
Record Sales of Electric Models
Sales of Ford’s fully electric cars increased by 30.2% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 30,612 units. Mustang Mach-E had its best quarter since launch in 2020, with a 50.7% growth and sales of 20,177 cars. F-150 Lightning also set a record with 10,005 pickups sold, which is almost 40% more than before.
Hybrids as the Foundation of Success
Hybrid models remain the primary source of Ford’s electric vehicle sales, with a total volume of 55,177 units. F-150 Hybrid continues to be the most popular full-size hybrid pickup in the US with 22,212 sales. Maverick Hybrid dominates the midsize hybrid pickup segment with 63,516 sales, which is 11.5% more than before.
Andrew Frick, President of Ford Blue and Model e, noted: “We saw strong results in gas, hybrid, and electric powertrains, while simultaneously developing our paid software solutions embedded in models such as Expedition, Explorer, and F-150.”
Ford’s Market Strategy
Ford demonstrates a balanced approach to developing various types of transport, successfully combining sales of traditional cars with electrified models. This year, the company is likely to surpass the sales volumes of electric vehicles from competitors such as GM and Stellantis combined. This indicates an effective strategy that allows Ford to maintain market leadership.
The growth in sales of Ford’s electric and hybrid models indicates a shift in consumer priorities and the company’s successful adaptation to new market demands. It is important to note that such results are achieved not only due to temporary incentives such as tax benefits but also due to a long-term strategy aimed at expanding the vehicle lineup. This allows Ford to remain competitive in all segments, from traditional pickups to innovative electric models.
