Kia Electric Vehicle Sales Sharply Declined: Key Models Show Shocking Drop

Kia Electric Vehicle Sales Declined, But Gasoline Models Compensate for Losses

Although electric models remain an important part of Kia’s global strategy, the US is experiencing a significant drop in demand for them. This is especially true for the flagship EV6 and EV9 models, which lost almost half of their sales compared to last year.

Electric Models Are Losing Ground

In the first six months of 2025, only 4,938 units of the Kia EV9 were sold in the USA, which is 49% less than in 2024. In June, the situation worsened even further – sales fell by 52%. A similar trend is observed for the EV6: sales for the half-year decreased by 46%, and in June – by a whole 69%.

Gasoline Cars Save the Situation

Despite the problems with electric vehicles, Kia’s total sales in the USA increased by 8%. The most noticeable progress is shown by the K5 sedan, whose sales almost tripled. The minivan Carnival (+57%) and the popular SUV Telluride (+15%) also significantly improved their performance.

The Sportage model remains the sales leader for Kia in the USA with an indicator of 87,172 units for the half-year.

Interestingly, even in the difficult situation on the electric vehicle market, Kia manages to maintain overall growth thanks to traditional models. However, the question of whether the company can regain its lost positions in the electric segment remains open, especially given the growing competition.
