We have already written several times about the crashed police Priuses. These accidents were actively discussed on social networks and often laughed at the patrol officers. However, in reality, everything turned out to be not so simple.Police inspector with the nickname Anton Nantes revealed on Facebook the secret of such a high accident rate of the Toyota Prius. He acknowledges that some accidents happened due to driver inexperience or fatigue, and there is also a small percentage of speed enthusiasts among the police. But a significant number of accidents happened for a completely different reason – due to the malfunction of the Priuses.
The fact is that the Toyota hybrid is a very capricious car and its power system requires thorough maintenance. However, there are problems with the service in the National Police, and therefore a hybrid system error is the most common breakdown of the Toyota Prius. Anton is unaware of repair cases, as it is very expensive – 80,000 hryvnias. Many Priuses continue to be driven with a faulty hybrid system for months or even years. At first, it seems that there’s nothing terrifying in this – just the fuel consumption increases to 12 l/100 km. However, this is just the beginning – when, due to a hybrid system error, the car’s steering locks!
Such cases are widespread and frequently lead to high-profile accidents. Anton Nantes claims that earlier, many Toyota Priuses did not even have their oil and filters changed for 80,000 km. Surprisingly, the petrol engine endured such mistreatment. Recently, however, the situation has improved, and Toyota hybrids are regularly sent for scheduled maintenance.Nevertheless, a lot of faulty Priuses have accumulated, and they are tried to be hidden from the eyes of the management. Oftentimes, the patrol cars have non-working flashing lights or radios, sometimes worn-out tires.
And these malfunctions are also not hastily fixed. We would like to add that we would very much like to hear a comment from the management of the National Police on this matter, confirming or refuting the above facts.
