In September 2021, Ukrainians purchased 54,484 imported used cars. As TopGir wrote, the used car market in Ukraine is 5 times larger than the new one, so we present to your attention a study of the used car market imported from abroad, based on data from the last 2 years.
Let’s start with the fact that there are 5 countries that are the largest importers of used cars to Ukraine.

Cars from the USA
According to carVertical, first place with a score of 30.3 percent is occupied by used cars from the United States of America. And here everything is clear – the so-called “salvage cars” in America are much cheaper because repairing them there is not profitable, and Americans prefer not to bother with it, but to receive insurance compensation and buy a new car.

As a rule, Ukrainians buy American used cars precisely because of the favorable price, and this applies even to expensive models. Let’s remind that in Ukraine they actively import salvage supercars from America!
For an understanding of the pricing policy, for example, in the USA a Toyota Camry after two years of use can be bought at auction for 15-20 thousand dollars with delivery and customs clearance. In Ukraine, however, there is practically no 2-year-used Toyota Camry on the market, and a new car of this model costs about 30 thousand dollars.
Cars from Germany
Second place with a large gap from the third with a result of 23.8% goes to Germany. This country is the European leader in supplying used cars to Ukraine.

German-origin cars are popular because in Germany:
1) Good roads;
2) High and timely service level;
3) High-quality and safe technical fluids.
Used foreign cars from Belgium
Yes, surprisingly, Belgium holds the third place with a score of 7.4 percent. Belgian cars are popular among Ukrainians because of their good condition and maintenance. That is, when buying a car from Belgium, you can be sure that the mileage is not rolled back and the car is serviced as per the schedule.
Used cars from Lithuania
The practice of importing Lithuanian cars can be considered classic, even since the 90s. And so-called euroblokas are generally out of competition – cars without customs clearance were predominantly “pulled” by Ukrainians there. Now this practice is not so popular anymore because cars from Lithuania are often much more “worn out” (although cheaper) than cars from other European countries, but customs clearance will cost exactly the same as for cars from Germany or the Netherlands. Moreover, due to high demand (yes, exactly because of popularity in Ukraine), many people in Lithuania have raised prices.
Cars from the Netherlands
Strangely enough, the Netherlands holds 5th place in the popularity of car imports to Ukraine. And it makes sense – in the Netherlands there is even an open car auction where prices are half as much as in a car dealership.
