Rare 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Emerges from Eternal Storage with 1,324 Miles

This 1992 Camaro Z28 has only 1,324 miles, making it a rare find for enthusiasts.

The turquoise paint looks great, and the interior shows no signs of wear.

Power continues thanks to the original 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8.

It seems like just an ordinary 1992 Camaro Z28, doesn’t it? However, in this case, nothing is ordinary. Since it left the Chevrolet plant over 30 years ago, it has traveled only 1,324 miles (2130 km), making this car a perfect time capsule. While there are likely a few other low-mileage examples from the same era, this one is set to go to auction this May, making it an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

The auction house Mecum Auctions has not provided any details explaining why this car has such low mileage, other than that it has been in the possession of the current owner for the past 15 years. While it’s unfortunate to see such a driver-oriented model left standing and not used, it’s quite intriguing to know there are cars like this one just waiting to be shown to the world.

Condition: Impeccable, inside and out

The muscle car is dressed in a brilliant shade of turquoise, and while only one exterior image has been released, it appears to be in excellent condition. It looks free of scratches or dents, and the five-spoke silver wheels look flawless. Evidently, it has been a “garage queen” its entire life.

Upon inspecting the interior, it’s clear that the original plastic still covers the seats and floor mats. Neither fabric, leather, nor plastic shows any signs of wear. Under the hood resides the original 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, producing 230 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Combined with a five-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels, this configuration was capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 8.1 seconds.

We hope the previous owner frequently started the engine, as simply leaving a car untouched for decades is not a very good idea.

If you’re considering placing a bid, you can view the lot at Mecum Auctions here, before it goes under the hammer on May 14 during the event in Indianapolis. Who knows, you might be the one finally to drive it a few miles.
