Rivian aims to acquire the R2T trademark, but don’t be confused

Rivian has gained some status among fans after Reddit users discovered a trademark application for R2T.

This is not news, as the company initially applied for this name back in 2018.

Car manufacturers regularly register potential names, although they may never be used.

Rivian’s release happened just over a year ago and is scheduled for the first half of 2026 with a base price of around $45,000. Concerns have already emerged about the possible R2T, as Rivian has applied for the trademark again.

Unfortunately, it’s not worth getting too hopeful, as this is not an innovation. On the contrary, Rivian first applied in October 2018. However, it was canceled on June 20, 2022.

Additionally:

Just shortly before this, Rivian applied for the R2T trademark. This application seems more detailed as it relates to “agricultural vehicles” and covers a large number of details and components. Among them are sun visors and splash guards, vehicle mechanism housings, electric motors, and custom vehicle badges.

The latest application is active, but this does not mean that fans should get too hopeful. Car manufacturers regularly register possible names for their vehicles, especially those similar to existing names. In particular, Rivian once had the X8 trademark, but it was canceled at the beginning of last year.

. This does not mean that an R2T cannot arise in the future, but for now, Rivian has a lot going on. Besides the R2S, the company has already announced plans regarding… The models are to be built at a new plant near Social Circle, Georgia, and production may begin as early as 2028.
