These photos were taken in Odessa in the early 90s. The depicted Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe with “gullwing” doors is not a garage modification, but rather a fairly rare specimen.
Tuning the Mercedes C126 was popular in the 80s, with several ateliers offering upward-opening doors for the coupe. The photo shows the work of tuners from SGS – such cars were produced from 1982 to 1986.
The Mercedes 500 SEC Gullwing coupe received not only new doors but also a body kit. Under the hood lies a five-liter V8 engine, producing 225-245 hp, depending on the version.
The car in the photo is far from being in good condition.
It’s a pity that we don’t know its history, and it’s unclear whether the Mercedes coupe survived to today or rusted away somewhere in a junkyard.
