For almost 90 years, the BMW company has produced many interesting cars. Many of them have become truly iconic, while some are unknown even to BMW fans. We have chosen the most unusual BMWs that few have heard of.
BMW Hurricane
The elegant BMW Hurricane coupe of 1967 was built by students on the basis of the serial BMW 1800ti and equipped with a 2.0-liter, 120-horsepower engine.
BMW 2000 ti Coupé
The Italian firm Frua created a stylish body for the BMW 2000 ti in 1968. Later, a version with a 3.0-liter V8 producing 160 hp appeared.
BMW 2800 Spicup
The designers at Bertone turned the 1969 BMW 2800 CS into an unusual convertible. Interestingly, a buyer was found for the BMW 2800 Spicup concept car, and used it as an everyday vehicle.
BMW 1602 Electro-Antrieb
The first BMW electric car appeared back in 1972.
A batch of coupes was released for the Munich Olympics. The 43-horsepower electric motor accelerated it to 100 km/h, and the range was 60 km.
BMW Turbo
The BMW Turbo concept supercar was also created for the Olympics, with the help of Lamborghini specialists in its design. It later evolved into the legendary BMW M1 coupe.
BMW 528i GT Coupé
Another creation by the Frua body shop, but this time based on the BMW 5 Series. It’s not very refined, but in the ’70s that was commonplace. From a technical point of view, it’s an ordinary 5-series belonging to the widespread and popular foreign cars, for which car service and parts are available at STO in Kharkiv.
BMW Karmann Asso Di Quadri
The BMW Karmann Asso Di Quadri hatchback by Giorgetto Giugiaro appeared 15 years before the BMW 3 Compact and was supposed to be serial.
But the economic crisis forced BMW to reconsider its plans.
BMW E30 M3 Pickup
The BMW M3 pickup was created in 1986 by BMW workers for the fast delivery of spare parts across the factory racetrack.
BMW Ur-Roadster
The controversial BMW Ur-Roadster convertible from 1990 is one of the first prototypes of the BMW Z3. Fortunately, the production model became much more elegant.
BMW Nazca C2
The BMW Nazca concept cars are some of the finest creations by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his ItalDesign studio. BMW even considered launching the streamlined supercar into production, but then the company’s management decided it would be better to help create the engine for the McLaren F1.
