In the world of custom pickups, originality is key, but this Ford surpasses many others. When it appeared on eBay, its appearance was so unusual it seemed almost unreal. However, it is not an AI product but a real car, initially listed for $400,000. According to reports, the auction ended with a sale last night.
Large-Scale Modification of the Base Model
The basis for this monster was a 2020 Ford F-450 Platinum, which is itself a very large vehicle. But for the company Stretch My Truck, that wasn’t enough. They literally lived up to their name by stretching the frame and body to add extra doors and a third row of seats. The result approaches absurdity in its dimensions: a wheelbase like a truck, seating for 11 passengers, and an 8-foot bed at the rear.
Luxury and Technology in the Cabin
The interior retained all the features of the original pickup’s Platinum trim but received an updated multimedia system with a larger touchscreen and additional displays in the seatbacks for passenger entertainment. The second row of seats gained power adjustment, and for comfort in the rear, additional heating and air conditioning units were installed.
Unique Suspension and Colossal Tires
The car’s true signature became its special suspension, which allows independent ride height adjustment for each axle. In the fully raised state, the F-450 rides on gigantic 46-inch tires with dual rear wheels. For more conventional use, including towing, the vehicle can be lowered onto more manageable 36-inch tires.
Power and Range
Under the hood works a massive 6.7-liter PowerStroke V8 diesel engine, which was further modified: a twin-turbo setup was installed, along with a special intercooler and a retuned electronic control unit. Although the seller did not provide specific power figures, such modifications promise a significant increase compared to the standard 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
The range was seriously increased thanks to additional fuel tanks. A 60-gallon tank was installed under the cab, and a 75-gallon auxiliary tank was placed in the bed. Together with the original 50-gallon tank, the total capacity is about 185 gallons. Filling all this capacity with diesel fuel at the average U.S. price would cost approximately $1,038.
Price and Specifications
The stretched F-450 has 13,709 miles on the odometer and is in perfect condition. Its construction reportedly cost nearly $500,000. The starting price on eBay was $399,900, which, obviously, did not deter a buyer. This amount is more than four times the price of a new factory Ford F-450 Platinum.
Such projects demonstrate how far enthusiasts can go in the pursuit of uniqueness and extreme characteristics. This pickup ceases to be just a vehicle, transforming into a mobile symbol of status and technical audacity, intended for a very narrow circle of admirers. Its sale at such a price indicates the existence of a stable market for such exclusive, albeit impractical from the point of view of everyday use, automobiles.
