Fines for Speeding May Increase to 3400 Hryvnias

The deputies passed in the first reading a draft law that provides for increased fines for certain traffic violations. According to the document, the Verkhovna Rada may vote for increased liability for exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h and more, as well as for not using seat belts and driving without registration plates.

For a “malicious” violation of the speed limit, the fine may increase from 510 UAH to 3,400 UAH, and not using seat belts will cost 510 hryvnias (currently 10 times less). And lastly, driving without registration plates will cost the car owner 510 hryvnias (currently 170 UAH), and in case of repeated violation – 680 UAH. It is just not clear whether it refers to the absence of two plates or the front one as well.
