Yuzhanina’s laws are currently adopted only in the first reading, but many Ukrainians already have a reasonable question: how much will customs clearance cost under the new rules. We decided to calculate the cost of customs payments for different categories of cars.
Audi A6 2002, 2.5 L diesel, price 2000 euros
Let’s start with the most popular car on Europlates in Ukraine – Audi A6. It cannot be cleared for customs now, as it does not meet the current Euro-5 standards.
Yuzhanina’s laws will allow the Audi to be cleared for customs. As is known, the excise is calculated by the formula: base rate (75 euros for diesels), multiplied by the age and engine capacity coefficients.
75 x 16 x 2.496=2995.2 euros
The duty is 10% of the cost (200 euros). VAT is also payable – 20% of the price including excise and duty, that is, 1039 euros. The total amount of customs payments is 4234.24 euros.
Volkswagen Passat B7 2013, 2.0 L diesel, price 6000 euros
The diesel Volkswagen Passat meets Euro-5 standards and is subject to a preferential excise, which will be 654 euros. The duty for it is now 438 euros (7.3%), and VAT is 1418.4 euros. Total – 2510.4 euros of customs payments.
According to the new rates, the excise will be 738 euros (75 x 5 x 1.968), duty 600 euros, and VAT – 1467.6 euros. All together – 2805.6 euros, which is slightly more expensive than under current standards.
Toyota Camry 2013, 3.5 L gasoline, price 10,000 USD
Now let’s take the Toyota Camry from the USA at a price of 10 thousand dollars or 8500 euros. At current rates, the excise on it will be 7731.5 euros, duty 850 euros (10%), and VAT – 3416.3 euros. Together – 11,997.8 euros.
Under the new rules, the excise for gasoline cars will be calculated the same way as for diesel ones, only with a base rate of 50 euros. 50 x 5 x 3.456=864 euros.
The duty will be 850 euros, and VAT – 2042.8 euros. The total customs payments amount to 3756.8 euros, which is significantly lower than now. Cars with large engine capacities will be much more profitable to clear for customs.
In addition to the above amounts, at the first registration of the car in Ukraine, a fee to the Pension Fund will need to be paid (3-5%, depending on the cost of the car), and also approximately 450 UAH for customs clearance.
