The head of the parliamentary committee on tax and customs policy, Nina Yuzhanina, published a comparative table of the cost of car customs clearance in Ukraine and a number of other countries. Let us remind you that very soon the Verkhovna Rada will consider Yuzhanina’s bills on reducing customs payments.
Georgia, Poland, Romania, Germany, and Lithuania were selected for comparison. The payments indicated are for the purchase of a 10-year-old used car with an engine capacity of 2200 cc and a cost of 5000 euros.
Judging by the data in the table, car customs clearance is currently more expensive in Ukraine, but with the adoption of new laws, we may effectively catch up with Poland. Although, for example, in Germany, Lithuania, and Romania, there is no vehicle excise tax at all.
Meanwhile, the cost of car maintenance in Ukraine is lower than in EU countries and even in Georgia and Moldova. We do not need to pay for technical inspection, and we also do not have environmental and road taxes.
So with the adoption of new customs clearance rules, registration and five-year maintenance of the car will be overall lower than in other countries.
