There is a certain irony in the fact that people whose livelihood directly depends on their vehicle are often overlooked when it comes to interesting packages and special editions. That is why commercial vehicles mostly remain unchanged, while Jeep releases a new special edition of the Wrangler almost every month.
Ram considers this approach unfair. So the company is bringing the new Night Edition package to the Chassis Cab pickups in the 3500, 4500, and 5500 models. It combines dark styling with a body that is convenient for further modifications by specialized companies.
What the Night Edition package includes
The premiere will take place at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa. The Chassis Cab Night Edition will feature a number of body-color elements, including the front bumper, grille surround, wheel arch flares, and door handles. Added to this is the Sport Performance hood, which gives the truck a more aggressive look.
As the name suggests, Night Edition chooses the dark side: the package also includes a darkened grille insert. Black emblems and black wheels are added to it.
Pricing, availability, and powertrains
The package will cost $2,195 on Big Horn models with Level 1 or Level 2 Equipment Group, and $1,695 on Laramie versions. Order books will open in the fourth quarter, and the vehicles themselves are expected to arrive at dealerships later this year.
Customers will be able to choose between two engines. The first is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 producing 375 hp (280 kW) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. The second is a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I6, which develops 360 hp (268 kW) and 800 lb-ft (1,083 Nm) of torque.

Given that competitors in this segment rarely offer similar special series, Ram may gain an additional advantage. This especially applies to owners of small businesses who want their vehicles to look modern and presentable, but without losing the ability to do heavy work every day.
