A 50-year-old American Car to Be Auctioned for the Price of Two Bugattis

The legendary muscle car, the 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, has been put up for auction at Mecum in the USA. The convertible is expected to fetch between $5.75 million and $6.5 million – similar to the price of two Bugatti Chirons.

Plymouth Cuda with V8 Hemi is the rarest and most expensive American muscle car. It often commands millions of dollars. Convertibles from 1971 are particularly valued since only 12 were produced.

However, this particular car is special, as it is the only European Plymouth Hemi Cuda. A resident of France bought it, and its speedometer is marked in kilometers per hour instead of miles. Additionally, the mileage over half a century is only 98,500 km. Hence the high price (even by Hemi Cuda standards).

The seven-liter Hemi produces 425 hp and has an impressive torque of 665 Nm. With a 4-speed manual transmission, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and completes a quarter mile in 13.1 seconds. The top speed is around 240 km/h.

The Plymouth Cuda comes equipped with a limited-slip differential, wood interior trim, sporty electrically operated seats, and special 15-inch wheels. By the way, did you know that there is one Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible in Ukraine?
