A unique ZIS-115 from 1950 is up for sale. They are asking for 3.65 million dollars for the car, and it’s not difficult to understand why.
The fact is, this Soviet limousine used to transport Joseph Stalin. Specifically for the leader of the people, the car was turned into a real armored vehicle.
ZIS-115 is a special protected version of the model 110, which, in turn, is essentially a copy of the American Packard 180. A total of about fifty armored cars were assembled, and 20 of them have survived to this day.
In fact, Stalin’s garage had more than one ZIS-115. The thing is, several motorcades were always formed for secrecy, which traveled along different routes.
So, during an assassination attempt, they wouldn’t know in which car the dictator was sitting.
And the protection of Stalin’s car was very impressive. The armor on the ZIS-115 weighs 400 kg and is capable of withstanding a 7.62 mm bullet hit or the explosion of an RGD-33 grenade.
By the way, Stalin wasn’t the only one with cool cars. Some Soviet leaders even owned supercars.
