In the USA, the RM Sotheby’s auction has put up for sale a sports coupe Pegaso Z-102 of 1954. They plan to receive approximately a million dollars for the rare car. This was reported by Focus. The Spanish manufacturer Pegaso is better known for buses and trucks, but in the 50s, they also produced sports cars. Moreover, the Pegaso Z-102 was the fastest car of its time. The Pegaso Z-102 sports car was equipped with V8 engines ranging from 175 to 360 hp. The maximum speed in the top version reached 243 km/h. In total, only 84 units of the Pegaso Z-102 were produced, but only 8 of them (including this car) received a Berlinetta coupe body from the French studio Saoutchik. Its founder and chief designer was the Ukrainian Yakiv Savchik. Yakiv Savchik (real surname – Savchuk) emigrated to France in childhood at the end of the 19th century. In the suburbs of Paris, he founded a bodywork studio. Savchik worked not only with Pegaso, but also with Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Hispano-Suiza. His works are distinguished by an avant-garde style. This Pegaso Z-102 Berlinetta Yakiv Savchik created by order of the Spanish aristocrat Pedro Domecq de la Riva. Later, the car changed owners and moved to the USA. The sports car underwent restoration and repeatedly won awards at retro car shows.
