The design of Renault Koleos is restrained and solid. The appearance is dominated by smooth shapes, and the most memorable feature is the brand’s signature curved running lights. The LED headlight illumination, by the way, is very good.

It is also worth noting the abundance of chrome on the thresholds, window frames, bumpers, and door handles. Test Drive Renault Koleos 2020: Updated Flagship

The interior is trimmed with leather, diluted with red inserts and “aluminum-style” overlays. The lighting can change its color, and along with it, the digital dashboard color also changes. More precisely, Renault Koleos displays the speedometer and tachometer on the screen, while the fuel level and engine temperature indicators are conventional. A traditional Renault feature is that the audio system control buttons are not on the steering wheel but on a special block on the steering column.

This, of course, requires getting used to, although many people like this arrangement. Test Drive Renault Koleos 2020: Updated Flagship

A large part of the central panel is occupied by a relatively large 8.7-inch portrait-format display. There are few switches left here, as most functions are managed through the multimedia system. Most of the functions are controlled through the menu, and there are very few switches.

The front seats of the Renault Koleos are very soft and comfortable – after a long trip, the back does not hurt.

The armrests with horizontal adjustment are also convenient. Also, in the updated crossover, the seats in the top version received an electric drive with memory settings. There is also heating and ventilation. The high seating position and thin roof pillars provide good visibility. Test Drive Renault Koleos 2020: Updated Flagship

There is more than enough space in the second row.

The angle of the backrest of the sofa is adjustable. By the way, there are two USB ports both at the front and the back. The trunk is quite large – 505 liters in its regular state and 1690 liters with the rear seats folded. And this is even considering that there is a full spare tire under the floor, not a compact spare. The rear door is equipped with an electric drive.

The Renault Koleos crossover in Ukraine is only offered with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine with 177 horsepower. The engine is not the quietest, but it is quite powerful. The maximum 380 Nm of torque is reached at 2000 rpm.

The continuously variable transmission copes well with all this thrust and is well-tuned – overtaking on the highway is easy and effortless. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. Test Drive Renault Koleos 2020: Updated Flagship

In city driving with traffic jams, we got a consumption of 8-8.5 l/100 km, on the highway – about 7 l/100 km (according to the passport – 6.2 and 5.8 l/100 km, respectively). If you choose Eco mode, Koleos becomes a bit more economical, but the diesel engine is less responsive. The Start/Stop system also helps save fuel, and it operates surprisingly smoothly.

Of course, one should not expect outstanding off-road capabilities from the Renault Koleos, but a ground clearance of 210 mm is sufficient on dirt roads, and if necessary, the clutch can be locked. Both on asphalt and off-road, the soft and long-travel suspension absorbs well and driving comfort is high. At the same time, the Renault crossover cannot be called too wobbly – body rolls are moderate. The steering is light, but it could use a bit more feedback. The sound insulation in the cabin is good – on the highway, neither wind nor tires nor potholes are particularly bothersome.

Overall, the new Renault Koleos is a good family car, it is spacious, comfortable, and economical. In Ukraine, the model starts at 807,900 hryvnias, and the top version, Intense, as we tested, costs from 943,400 hryvnias.
