We are talking about truly driver-focused cars for real professionals, in whose veins flows not just gasoline, but sports fuel with additives.
So, behind the wheel of which cars would an average driver leave a wet puddle on the seat?
Panoz Esperante GTR-1 Road Car
Under the not most euphonious name, which is actually pronounced as ‘Panoz’ (and not as you thought), hides almost a racing car, after which both your spine hurts and traces on the seat are left not only wet.
The founder of the company is Dan Panoz, and he asked his father, Don Panoz, for the money to create it. The company received a new name and head office in America, where work began on the racing prototype Esperante. Don loved motorsport in general: in the seventies, he even bought the Sebring and Atlanta race tracks, later reselling them to NASCAR.
The specifications of the Panoz supercar state that it has 620 horsepower with an engine capacity of 6 liters.
And that’s quite enough to track and tear everyone off the traffic lights, as acceleration to a hundred takes just 3.2 seconds. Initial price is $1,000,000.
SCG 003S
A very spectacular and fast car, as well as a multiple winner in the “24 Hours of Nürburgring.” There are three different versions, but the fastest and legalized for roads and track races is 003S. The engine is a BMW V8 with a capacity of 4.4 liters, “accelerated” to 800 hp. The maximum speed is 349 km per hour. The cost is from $1.6 million.
Radical Rapture
The creation of the young company Radical is among the TOP-30 fastest road cars of the Nürburgring.
The secret of success is as simple as it is ingenious – an engine, wheels, and a space frame. That’s it – nothing more.
The latest model of the “radical” car manufacturer is Rapture, which weighs less than a Tavria (only 765 kg), but its power is 350 horses (engine – Ecoboost from Ford), which allows it to accelerate to 100 km per hour in 3 seconds. The maximum speed is 265 km per hour. And on the track, it’s just a big kart with a minimal set of amenities (heated mirrors, heater, and one socket).
KTM X-Bow
The sports car from the motorcycle manufacturer is made in the company’s signature style and is equipped by default with a 220-horsepower Audi engine, although there are more powerful and extreme modifications.
The fastest version is the X-Bow RR, which “outraced” even the Ferrari 812 Superfast at the Nürburgring. The price?
From 45 thousand euros, though you’ll need to buy a helmet too, because the car doesn’t have a windshield. But that’s the thrill!
Ariel Atom
Perhaps the most popularity this “misunderstanding on wheels” received was thanks to Jeremy Clarkson. This cage on wheels weighs just 550 kg, so even the base 190-horsepower turbo engine is quite enough.
And yet there is a 500-horsepower V8, with which acceleration to a hundred takes 2.3 seconds. In other words, the Atom’s dynamics are better than that of a Bugatti Chiron, but for the price of a Bugatti, you could buy about 15 of these race cars.
