In Germany, the debut of the latest off-road minibus of Ukrainian production

At the IAA 2022 exhibition in Hanover, the latest model of Ukrainian production, Torsus Crafter 4×4, debuted, and it was demonstrated at the Volkswagen stand, alongside other modifications of the German brand.

As TopGir reports, citing AUTO-Consulting, the off-road “minibus” was created based on the Volkswagen Crafter 4Motion, but it’s not just a deep modernization, it’s practically a new vehicle. That’s why it already bears the Torsus emblem instead of VW, but all changes have been agreed upon and homologated with Volkswagen, which allowed the company to offer such a model on its stand.

Torsus Crafter 4×4 has a ground clearance of 29 cm and can ford through waters as deep as 69 cm, and with a special package even 82 cm. The lower part of the vehicle’s body is protected with Line-X coating, in addition, there are protective elements around the body perimeter made of composite material, a reinforced front bumper, protective grilles for headlights and lamps, and sturdy protection for the engine and transmission. The Crafter’s suspension has been completely revised. Now it has large travel and exceptional energy capacity, making its movement confident off-road.

The Torsus is equipped with a 2.0-liter VW diesel engine with two turbines producing 177 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic transmission with a rear differential lock. Interestingly, Volkswagen homologation made it possible to offer the Torsus Crafter 4×4 through the German manufacturer’s dealer network. This significantly expands the market for Torsus. Participation in the exhibition in Hanover is practically the start of European sales for the Ukrainian manufacturer.
