A resident of Bukovina decided to purchase a Tesla Model S in Slovakia and bring it to Ukraine. During customs clearance, it was discovered that the price of the Tesla in the documents was only 15,000 euros.

Of course, the customs officers were alarmed by such a low price for the electric car, and they contacted their Slovak colleagues. They provided the sales contract showing that the electric car costs twice as much – 32,300 euros.

In the Ukrainian’s actions, a violation of Part 1, Article 483 of the Customs Code was seen, and the car, of course, was taken. It remains unclear why there was a need to undervalue the Tesla, as electric cars in Ukraine in 2018 were exempt from customs duties, excise, and VAT.

In fact, for registering an electric car, one only needs to pay a contribution to the Pension Fund. So, it turns out the owner chose to undervalue the car to pay 600 euros instead of 1615. A questionable saving, but we see no other explanation. In any case, as they say, a miser pays twice.

By the way, not long ago, a customs confiscated an untaxed Lamborghini, but the Ukrainian managed to get the supercar back.
