Ukrainian Police Officers Will Switch to ZAZ Sens

After the hybrids Toyota Prius and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the National Police will receive more modest cars. Thus, according to the tender in ProZorro, law enforcement officials have purchased 52 ZAZ Sens vehicles produced in 2017.

Ukrainian police officers will switch to Sens vehicles

All Sens cars are equipped with air conditioning and will be painted in the National Police colors. The price of each car is 199 thousand hryvnias, although in the car dealership such a ZAZ Sens would cost 210 thousand.

Perhaps after numerous accidents involving patrol Priuses (and even Mitsubishi vehicles have already been involved in accidents), the police decided to pay attention to more modest and cheaper to repair vehicles?

Perhaps it would have been better to initially provide new police officers with simpler vehicles like ZAZ, and then upgrade them to Toyota and Mitsubishi hybrids. Similar to the case of novice drivers – it’s better to learn on a car that isn’t precious.

But there is another explanation: the ZAZ Sens was not bought for the Patrol Police. They are often used by the Security Police, for example. Moreover, along with the Sens vehicles, they also acquired 15 Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI with 180 horsepower, costing 663 thousand hryvnias each.
