Hurricane Wind Blew Construction Scaffolding Off the Much-Delayed Bridge in Kyiv

Today (and even right now) a sandstorm and hurricane wind are being observed in Kyiv and the region. The latter has caused serious damage to the much-suffering and practically precious long-term construction called Podilsky Bridge (also known as Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge). On the unfinished Podilsky Bridge in Kyiv on Thursday, April 16, part of the temporary scaffolding structures fell down. This was reported by the first deputy head of KSCA, Mykola Povoroznyk, on his page in Facebook.

“Today, April 16, due to strong winds, part of the temporary scaffolding structures of the Podilsky bridge crossing fell.

These structures are used for performing anticorrosion protection of the metal construction of the arch bridge. The bridge structures are undamaged, and there are no casualties. Currently, work has already been completed to restore the temporary scaffolding structures,” he explained.

Journalist Eva Nikolashvili clarified on Twitter that the structures fell into the water. Blogger Vadym Bespalov added that a part of the lift equipment for working with the cables from the German company Plettac fell.

According to him, the installation of the structures was carried out by the Ukrainian subdivision of the manufacturing company. Conclusion? Either nothing critical, or, as usual, there will be a reason to explain the delay in the construction of the much-suffering Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge, which (just for a moment) has already brought 7 billion hryvnias to the main contractors (as of 2016).
