In Bulgaria, an old VAZ-2101 Kopeyka was fitted with a Rolls-Royce level interior en

It may seem absurd, but it is not a joke. The Bulgarian tuning studio GB Design has indeed done an incredible job of radically redesigning the interior of the VAZ 2101. And if we didn’t know it was a ‘Kopeyka’, we would never have guessed from the interior photos!

VAZ 2101 – Soviet classic. In a sense, the ‘Kopeyka’ is an iconic model of VAZ, which released it not without the help of Fiat. Today, prices for it vary greatly, ranging from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars (museum-condition samples). As for the Bulgarian VAZ, it is essentially a restomod timed to the 50th anniversary of the first Zhiguli.

If you remember, there is such a company as Singer Vehicle Design. It does restomods of classic Porsche. So, in this case, we have something similar – from the outside, the car looks like it came from the factory and doesn’t stand out in any special way, but it simply amazes from the inside.

The car was built as a one-off, and it took 4 months of collective work to construct it. Initially, the VAZ was disassembled to the bolts and underwent a full rebuild. The main highlight of the project is the Rolls-Royce level interior. And indeed, it is: manually upholstered brown leather seats, natural veneer, speakers in the cards in the spirit of old receivers, a retro console, seat backs with leather folders with straps, and most importantly, clutches in the same style. It’s interesting to know the project’s budget…
