McLaren owners in Ukraine do not pay a luxury tax. This is not a joke – the information was officially announced by the State Tax Service.

No, McLaren supercars are not too cheap for the tax, although most of them are salvage cars from the USA. Recall that the luxury tax in Ukraine applies to cars up to 5 years old worth more than 1.771 million hryvnias.
The fact is that the specific list of luxury models is approved by the Ministry of Economic Development. And it does not include the McLaren 720S, 570S or 540C worth over $200,000, which means they are not taxed. And a lot have been imported, as McLaren was the trendiest supercar in Ukraine in 2020.

In general, the owners got lucky – at least until the list is expanded. In this situation, we share a life hack for oligarchs – you need to import the most exotic supercars like the Pagani Zonda, Hennessey Venom, or Koenigsegg Agera. Because if McLaren is not on the list for tax purposes, then they are certainly absent as well.
