Those who bought and imported electric vehicles were practically not paying the taxes borne by buyers of internal combustion engine cars. But, as they say colloquially, the freebie is over. While everyone was discussing the law on euro license plates, deputies pushed through new requirements that essentially went unnoticed.
It concerns electric traction vehicles, which until January 2019 had zero duty and excise. But from the new year, those who want to import such vehicles will have to pay 1 euro to the treasury per 1 kW of battery capacity.
Is it betrayal or victory? In fact, neither. These are negligible amounts measured in tens of euros. For example, for a Nissan Leaf, one will have to pay up to 50 euros, and for the most expensive Tesla, around 100 euros.
