In Cherkasy, a 2005 Mazda RX-8 is put up for sale. They are asking only 5500 dollars for the coupe, which is not much for such a car.

However, everything becomes clear if you look under the hood of the Mazda RX-8. There you will not find a rotary engine – instead, a 1.5-liter VAZ four-cylinder is installed.

To be honest, even we did not expect this. Of course, the Wankel engine is very capricious and can be easily ruined with improper maintenance. So swapping the Mazda RX-8’s engine is a common practice, but a VAZ engine is clearly not for this coupe.

Interestingly, the standard 6-speed manual transmission works with the engine. According to the seller, everything else in the coupe is original and the car recently underwent maintenance.
