Cult Mercedes of the Nineties on Euro Plates Spotted in Ukraine

We are accustomed to the fact that various inexpensive Skodas, Volkswagens, and Opels are often imported to Ukraine from Lithuania, Poland, and Germany. But there are exceptions to the rule (just remember the Lamborghini Diablo on Lithuanian plates in Kyiv), among which is this Mercedes SL R129 with a mighty V12 engine.

The luxurious 90s convertible was captured in the capital. The German concern started equipping this model with a 12-cylinder engine in 1992. It’s a 6-liter 48-valve V12 engine with a capacity of 389 hp.

Until ’95, it was paired with a 4-speed automatic, and from 1995, a 5-speed automatic transmission was installed on it.

In the 90s, the SL600 R129 was cooler than the then-bestseller among the “new Russians,” the W140 S600 (also known as “boar”). By the way, in those years, such a cabriolet cost over 200 thousand dollars. Today, an SL in such a body can be bought in Ukraine for 20 thousand dollars, and the price is roughly the same in Germany, but in any case, it all depends on the condition, year of manufacture, and, of course, the type of engine.
