by Legendary Citroen DS arrived at the OldCarLand festival. It is one of the most famous French cars and definitely the coolest model in Citroen’s history. There are only a few such cars in Ukraine.
Citroen DS was produced from 1955 to 1975, and nearly 1.5 million cars were built. The model was mass-produced, yet technically very advanced. Its main feature is, of course, the hydropneumatic suspension with adjustable ground clearance. By the way, its working fluid is shared with the power steering.
It is also worth noting the adaptive turning headlights, semi-automatic transmission, and the rare front-wheel drive for that time. Plus, the Citroen DS is the first mass-produced car with disc brakes, which had previously only been used on expensive sports cars.
This particular car is from the last series, produced in 1973. The name Citroen DS23 indicates a 2.3-liter injector engine with 140 hp, capable of reaching 190 km/h. The Citroen DS23 was brought from Belgium just days before the start of OldCarLand-2021.
