A unique 46-year-old ZAZ Perspectiva was shown in Ukraine

The “Time Machines” museum in Dnipro presented a rare ZAZ Perspectiva. The car, which has been preserved as a single specimen, was restored and became part of a new exhibition for Independence Day.

TopGir once wrote about this unique model. The ZAZ-1102 Perspectiva was created in 1976 as a replacement for “Zaporozhets”. For its time, it was truly advanced – front-wheel drive, transverse engine in the front. In Zaporizhzhia, they studied the Audi 50, Renault 16, and Ford Fiesta and decided to make their analogue.

The ZAZ Perspectiva measures 3.7 m in length, 1.54 m in width, and 1.47 m in height, with a weight of only 700 kg. The design uses parts from the VAZ-2101 Zhiguli.

Only three prototypes of the ZAZ-1102 Perspectiva were produced. Interestingly, this particular car has a Renault engine and Audi gearbox, although a new Melitopol engine was being prepared for the serial model.

The car was ready for production, but Soviet officials did not allow it. They claimed the car was too innovative, so they continued making their Zaporozhets.

Nevertheless, ZAZ continued the development of a front-wheel-drive car, resulting in the Tavria, which retained the index ZAZ-1102. However, production began only 12 years later.

The ZAZ Perspectiva prototypes were ordered to be scrapped, but one car was bought and saved by the factory tester Ivan Koshkin. He is now 90 and decided to sell the car to the museum. Despite the war, it was still decided to restore it and show it to the public. More about the car is in the story by Informer.
