Xiaomi YU7’s Popularity Leads to Long Waiting Times
The new YU7 electric crossover from Xiaomi has become so popular that the company cannot keep up with demand. Customers who have ordered the car are forced to wait an average of 56-59 weeks before receiving their vehicle. This has led to numerous complaints, and even Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun is advising potential buyers to consider other Chinese electric vehicles.
“If you need to buy a car quickly, other Chinese new energy vehicles are also very good,” Jun stated.
Why is the YU7 in Such High Demand?
The YU7 model, introduced in June, received about 240,000 orders in just 18 hours. Its success is explained by its attractive design, modern technology, and competitive price. The base Standard version starts at 253,500 yuan (about $35,300) and offers a range of 519 miles (835 km) on a single charge. More powerful variants with dual motors and a larger battery are also available.
Currently, the YU7 is only sold in China, but Xiaomi plans to enter international markets, where its main competitor will be the Tesla Model Y. However, for now, the company is focused on increasing production capacity to reduce waiting times for its customers.
This situation shows how quickly Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers are capturing the market by offering high-quality cars at affordable prices. At the same time, it highlights the importance of logistics and production capabilities in meeting the demand for new technologies.
