2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT Video Review: The Mighty V8 King Returns

Ram TRX: Does It Remain the King of Super Pickups?

When the Ram TRX first hit the market, it was an instant sensation, offering 702 horsepower as a response to the Ford Raptor. Now, under the hood of this monster sits 777 horsepower (579 kW), making it even more extreme. However, the market for high-performance pickups has changed significantly since the TRX’s debut. Has it maintained its status as the king of super trucks?

To answer this question, we spent time behind the wheel both on-road and off-road and prepared a full video review. In it, we covered everything: from acceleration dynamics and ride quality to cabin comfort, daily practicality, and the realities of owning a supercharged V8 pickup.

Driving Impressions and Daily Use

The TRX remains as impressive as its specs suggest, but the numbers only tell part of the story. What surprised us most was not how fast it is, but how comfortable it can be when you’re not extracting all its power.

Conclusions, figures, and whether it justifies the roughly $26,200 premium over the cheaper RHO version — all of this is in the video above. And if you want to dive deeper into the design, technology, capabilities, and ownership experience of the TRX, be sure to check out our full review.

Key Specifications

The new SRT TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 777 hp (579 kW) and 707 lb-ft (958 Nm) of torque. The starting price is $99,995 excluding delivery ($2,795), which comes out to $102,790. The vehicle weighs 6,376 lbs (2,892 kg). Fuel economy: 10 mpg city, 14 mpg highway, 12 mpg combined. During our tests, we achieved a 0-60 mph time of 4.57 seconds, and the city fuel economy was 9.4 mpg.

This pickup remains a unique phenomenon in the market, combining incredible power with relative daily usability. However, growing competition, especially from electric models, raises questions about its long-term dominance. Despite this, the TRX still offers an unparalleled driving experience thanks to its engine and chassis, making it the choice for those who value pure driving emotion.
