A serious accident involving a McLaren 720S occurred on the autobahn in Germany. The car, which was traveling at high speed, skidded on the wet road, causing it to crash into a barrier. The driver, a 61-year-old man, escaped with only minor injuries, although the car was completely destroyed.
Police report that the cause of the accident was excessive speed combined with rainy conditions. The car flew off the road at the junction between the A8 and A995 autobahns near Munich. The barrier pierced the passenger compartment but, fortunately, did not hit the driver. He did not require hospitalization and was released to go home after being examined at the scene.
Aftermath of the Accident
Fire and rescue services who arrived at the scene initially feared the worst, but the situation resulted in no fatalities. The cost of the damage is estimated at over 250 thousand euros. The McLaren 720S, equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 710 hp, was completely destroyed – its carbon fiber body could not withstand the impact.
This incident is yet another reminder of the dangers of speeding, especially in adverse weather conditions. Despite modern supercars being equipped with safety systems, the laws of physics remain immutable. Drivers should remember that even the most expensive cars are not immune to tragedy if caution is not exercised on the road.
