The minivan from the German automotive concern Volkswagen Sharan has been produced since 1995. During the serial production of the first generation, it underwent two stages of restyling. The second generation was launched in 2010 and continues to this day. The name of the car itself has a rather deep and presumptuous meaning, with the exact Persian translation meaning “carrying kings.”

Appearance
During production, the company collaborated with several manufacturers simultaneously. As a result, “Sharan” had two similar prototypes: SEAT Alhambra and Ford Galaxy. However, the second generation appeared for the first time in a unique form. Thus, Volkswagen Sharan, unlike the others, still inherited noticeable distinctive features of the concern.
Subsequently, a similar design was also present in other models of the German manufacturer. For example, Polo, Jetta, Touareg had distinguished designs. This type of design is characterized by clear and concise lines, a simple design, a chrome radiator grille, and elongated headlights in the front.
Engines
In all generations, “Sharan” is distinguished by a wide choice of engine configurations. But if you have to constantly carry many people and load the car, you should consider models with a turbodiesel. In different modifications, there are:
- 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 140 hp;
- the same model with 170 hp.
The car’s dynamism remains unchanged and does not fall behind gasoline engines. However, fuel consumption becomes significantly lower. On highways, diesels sound normal, but the second option may seem loud in city conditions.
Handling
The dual-clutch transmission and the six-speed manual gearbox provide good vehicle handling. Moreover, you can find such models on the secondary market. On the OLX service, there are models with all-wheel drive. It is important for the driver that the steering wheel itself turns smoothly, easing the task. The medium stiffness suspension absorbs most road bumps. Thus, the family’s comfort in such a minivan is ensured.
