The Japanese Crossbreeding of Mazda MX-5 and Chevrolet Corvette of the 60s

The company Mitsuoka is known for its extraordinary cars. The Japanese have already managed to turn a Ford Mustang into a Rolls-Royce and recreate the very first Toyota.

This time, Mitsuoka took on the Mazda MX-5 roadster and transformed it into the iconic Chevrolet Corvette Stingray of the 60s. This marvel was named Mitsuoka Rock Star.

The car now features pronounced fenders and a sculpted hood. Chrome bumpers and four round lights have been added. Notably, almost all of the body panels are new.

The interior of the Mazda MX-5 was left untouched, as was the technical filling. Thus, the Mitsuoka Rock Star is equipped with a modest 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 130 hp. For comparison, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was offered with a V8 engine ranging from 5.3 to 7.0 liters and producing 250 to 435 hp.

By the way, earlier, the Mazda MX-5 was already transformed into another famous American car of the 60s – the Ford Mustang.
