During the years of full-scale war, luxury cars worth 55 billion hryvnias were imported into Ukraine

During 2022–2024, over 12,000 expensive cars worth $70,000 or more were imported into Ukraine. The total customs value of all these vehicles reached 55 billion hryvnias. This was reported by MP Nina Yuzhanina, citing data obtained from the State Customs Service.

A total of 12,090 such imports were recorded. Of these:

  • 7,999 cars — worth between $70,000 and $100,000
  • 3,872 — between $100,000 and $200,000
  • 219 — more expensive than $200,000

The number of premium cars entering the country is increasing year by year:

  • in 2022 — 2,300 cars,
  • in 2023 — 4,852,
  • in 2024 — already 4,938.

An interesting detail: just last year, nearly a thousand premium electric vehicles were imported into Ukraine. The total value of these “electrics” is about $90 million. Although the amount is staggering, not a single hryvnia of VAT was paid to the budget—current legislation exempts electric vehicles from this tax.

However, elite owners still pay the transport tax. From January to April 2025, the budget received 87.2 million hryvnias—12% more than the same period last year. The highest collections were in Kyiv (26.5 million UAH), Dnipropetrovsk (8 million), and Odesa (7.6 million) regions.
