The incident happened last month near Tomball. It was triggered by the driver of an Infiniti G50 sedan, who was trying to impress the crowd near the exit with his skill in handling a rear-wheel-drive car. As it turned out, he completely lost control.
Following the usual scenario often seen in videos from car meets, the driver drove onto an intersection, creating a smoke screen, and then abruptly lifted off the gas without straightening the steering wheel. This caused a sharp weight shift, and the silver G50 swerved sharply to the left, into the oncoming lane.
One of the vehicles traveling in the opposite direction was a Honda CR-V, which was going about its business. The front of the Infiniti struck the rear of the red Honda, causing the SUV to skid sideways, then roll onto its side, stand on its front bumper, and finally come to a stop in a ditch.
Aftermath of the Accident
During the accident, one of the Infiniti’s wheels, which had torn off during the initial impact, hit an innocent sedan driving behind the CR-V. After that, the wheel bounced and rolled further down the road at high speed. It is unknown whether it hit anyone else after the main accident ended.
At least two videos from the scene, filmed on mobile phones, have appeared online. In one of them, the Infiniti driver is seen running out of his wrecked sedan to check if the Honda’s occupants are okay. Fortunately, according to reports from the scene, no one was killed, although it could have ended much worse.
The Infiniti driver tried to impress the crowd with his skill in handling a rear-wheel-drive car, but lost control.
Both cars, the Infiniti and the Honda, were completely destroyed. Although modern cars have become much safer, this case once again reminds us of the danger of reckless maneuvers on the roads, especially near places with large crowds of people.
