Chevrolet is Preparing an Even More Powerful Version of the Corvette C8
Chevrolet continues to develop the Corvette C8 lineup, and upcoming models may surpass even the new 1250 hp ZR1X. The project’s chief engineer, Tony Roma, stated that the ZR1X is only the final chapter in the C8 story, but not the end.
“What we’ve learned during the development of various models and the capabilities we have for further improving this chassis are incredible. The ZR1X is not the end of the story, but only its final chapter,” said Roma.
Speed for Prestige
Chevrolet engineers are confident that the ZR1X will be able to beat the Mustang GTD on the Nürburgring. Although most owners will never use the full potential of these cars, the company will continue to increase their performance for the sake of prestige.
“Speed today is important only for bragging rights. For a car to have the appropriate reputation, we must offer a version capable of achieving incredible performance. That’s why we will continue to make the car even faster—our customers appreciate it,” added Roma.
The Corvette team has not yet announced an official Nürburgring lap time for the ZR1 or ZR1X, but Roma is confident that one of these models will be able to beat the Mustang GTD’s record (6 min 52.072 sec).
Despite the fact that none of the buyers are likely to come close to such results, the very possibility of owning a car with such characteristics remains an important factor for the brand. Chevrolet engineers continue testing, promising new surprises.
