The Hobbycar amphibious vehicle is a very rare car, as only 50 of them were produced in France between 1992 and 1995. One of them was stored for a long time in a museum in Nashville, USA.

Occasionally, the Hobbycar was taken out to Lake Tennessee along with another rare amphibian, the German Amphicar from 1960. Passengers were often taken on such test drives. During one such ride, the French car began to rapidly take on water and soon sank.

The driver and passengers (including 5 and 9-year-old children) were successfully transferred to the Amphicar, but the car itself could not be saved. Only a few days later, divers discovered the amphibian and were able to retrieve it from the bottom of the lake.

Strangely enough, the sunken car is in a tolerable condition. The biggest concern is the 1.9-liter 92-horsepower Peugeot turbodiesel engine, but finding a replacement engine will not be difficult if needed.
