Not everyone knows that the ZAZ-1102 Tavria was actively exported in the 90s. The Ukrainian budget car was sold not only in Eastern and Western Europe, but also overseas.
The sale of the ZAZ-1102 was established in Chile from October 1990. Surprisingly, even during Soviet times, there was an AvtoVAZ dealer network formed there. It was this network that started selling Tavria.

Since no one in Latin America knew about the ZAZ brand, they decided to sell Tavria under the Lada brand. The model’s advertising poster shows the Lada logo.
The Lada Tavria did not differ from the standard ZAZ-1102 except for the emblems. The hatchback was equipped with a standard 1.1-liter engine with a power of 53 hp and a 5-speed manual transmission.
You could buy the ZAZ-1102 in Chile until November 1991 – after which the supply of cars to Latin America was stopped. A total of 1595 Tavrias were sold in Chile, which can be considered a good result. It is noteworthy that the Lada dealer network in Chile also did not last long and closed in 1998.
